Let’s start with my first review, today we’ll talk about this EP released under Lost Children.
As you can see in the netlabel website, the artist here made six tracks imaging some situations of our life, with the exception of the sixth track (I think), moving from genre to genre.
Well, it’s time to describe all tunes:
1. Rainbow, Puddle, Children
This track fits totally with the title, just when it started I had a sense of joy and harmony.
Those chords and that squary sequence in the back are really sweet and after some seconds you can feel some freshness around you with that simple folky beat.
Simple and satisfactory.
2. Roof To Roof
What to say,
that simple guitar is awesome, with those voices in the back..
The main voice is pleasing and soft. Lyrics are cool, you can find a file in the whole package called x_englyric-card.jpg: that’s an image with the lyrics written in English / Japanese (nice idea imho).
The main part is very relaxing, after a while we can start listening a little sequence coming up with some cool female chorus, personally I loved that part.
When you think that’s finishing in that way, with a little of ‘shoegazy’ an awesome guitar comes in and the track transmits everything to you. Unexpected.
Cool. Really.
3. Lumberjack In The Morning
Wow, that kick is cool!
Birds, yes, the first thing you need to notice is the track isn’t the same without birds.
Try to imagine that guitar played without birds singing around, not the same for sure.
As I said that kick is awesome, drums and beats are awesome, I really like the sounds used and how he played with everything.
Melody is really sweet all around, I listened to this coming back at home in a bus and it was very relaxing for me =)
Ah, I really loved that beat-repeating in the centre!
Nice.
4. At The Flowerbed Of My Garden
This track really remembered me The Album Leaf style.
One of little things I noticed in this is that filtering around 2.20, it’s really similiar to an FL Studio effect: the Love Philter.
I need to say this track is just simple and nice, but it doesn’t peals in my head like others.
5. Talk With The Moon
I think this is the sweetest one, I really like how all the melodies, instruments and sequences fits perfectly each other in American Green’s tracks.
This is really nice and the ending with that glidy synth is like saying you ‘be happy!’.
Beats are cool but I really loved the repeating of that synth in some parts of the sequence.
Really enjoyable.
6. Street Trees
The ending track, slow and melancholic.
Nothing more to say, it just says you ‘hey, the EP is finished!’.
By the way, I really like the beat in the ending and how it sounds like dirty.
I like the ending guitar chords too.
I really loved this EP, enjoyed it a lot, I already listened to it like six times in two days.
What I really loved are those light and soft effects here and there, not very marked but if you listen carefully there are a lot of those in all his tracks.
A word for this? I would choose ’joney’, because this is a mix of joy and honey =)
